Downtown Boston
Quick Comments: Convenient, Business Offices, Shopping
Public Transportation: Green, Orange, and Red Line trains, and buses
The general Downtown Boston area is in the center of city and includes several Boston neighborhoods: Downtown Boston, the Financial District, Chinatown, and the Leather District.
It is recommended that you rent/lease an apartment in this neighborhood after you arrive in the U.S. and can evaluate the area.
Downtown Boston
Many company headquarters and Boston City Hall are located in Downtown Boston. The area comes alive each weekday around noon when thousands of business employees go out to lunch and shop.
Downtown also offers large department stores and boutiques. It is home to many of Boston's most historic sites, including the Faneuil Hall shopping area.
Financial District
The Financial District is full of bankers, lawyers, and other business people hurrying to attend important meetings during the day. It is not unusual to see men and women dressed in suits quickly eating a sandwich in one of the peaceful parks.
Architecture ranges from newly constructed skyscrapers to quaint two-level buildings that were built in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Chinatown
Chinatown is the third-largest Chinese neighborhood in the country and one of the most densely populated neighborhoods in Boston. Residential properties coexist with family businesses, local institutions, and some of the best Chinese restaurants in the country that are open late at night.
The Leather District
This small Boston is conveniently located next to the South Station on the Red Line trains. Great restaurants and shopping are a quick walk away. Many of the old leather factories have been converted to apartments with high ceilings.
