Foreign National Tax Resource (FNTR) Software
FNTR provides an online, extensive, searchable, content library and tax preparation software for understanding your non-resident alien tax obligations and completing the 1040NR and 1040NR-EZ forms.
Partners Office for International Professionals and Students (PIPS), along with Partners Central Payroll, pays for the FNTR tax software program so that it is free-of-charge to employees, faculty and staff of Partners affiliates (MGH, BWH, McLean, Spaulding, NSMC and IHP). Employees may access FNTR from any computer with an internet connection to help with non-resident alien tax forms. You will then print out the forms and mail them to the appropriate government tax agency.

Who can use FNTR non-resident tax preparation software?
Those who are non-resident aliens for tax purposes can use FNTR.
What if I am a resident alien for tax purposes?
You cannot use FNTR software to file your tax forms if you are a resident alien for tax purposes, but the software provides resident tax information.
If you are a resident for tax purposes, you may use the basic Federal Free tax software editions (from companies such as H&R Block, TurboTax, etc.). You may also be charged additional fees if you need to file Massachusetts state tax forms. Please refer any questions about the basic Federal Free tax software editions to the tax software company you would like to use (H&R Block, TurboTax, etc.).

Employees, faculty and staff of Partners affiliates (MGH, BWH, McLean, Spaulding, NSMC and IHP) use FZ424UAHTJRB as your FNTR Access Code if you have an email address ending one of the following email domains:
- partners.org
- harvard.edu
- ihp.edu
If your visa is sponsored by our office and you do not have an email address that ends in one of the above email domains, Contact Us by April 7th to request an individual Access Code.
Do not share the Access Code with non-Partners employees (our office can view the names of those who use FNTR -- we cannot view your tax/income details).

- Complete the registration form using the appropriate Access Code
- Sign in using the username and password you would like

- Ensure that you have the appropriate FNTR Access Code

- Click on: “Did your access code change? Click here to reactivate your account”.
- Log in using the username and password you used last year
- Complete the registration form using the appropriate Access Code

1040NR/1040NR-EZ Preparation Navigation
- Log in to the Tax Return Resource
- Access the tax preparation software from within the Tax Return Resource by clicking on either the “Tax Return Preparation” button on the far left of the top menu bar OR the “Prepare and Print your 1040NR/1040NR-EZ” box in the upper right of the screen.
- Complete the registration form by clicking on the “Register” button
- Once you register you will have immediate access to the software

Read More...The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) never sends emails for any reason and you should NEVER reply to any emails or phone calls claiming to be from the IRS. If the IRS has a question, they will mail a letter to you. If somebody did not include an SSN or ITIN on their tax return, the tax return may be rejected and the IRS will ask the person to file a new return using the correct number. FNTR will NEVER send an email to any foreign national, any client, or anyone asking for an SSN or ITIN. Never send FNTR your SSN or ITIN in an email - doing so is an enormous security problem.
